Woodturning

About

I began turning in 1980 when my husband and I had finished building a 36’ sailboat. This venture had introduced me to wood and I was hooked, in spite of the fact that I had virtually no woodshop experience. Turning was the answer - an array of creative possibilities but all within the safe confines of one machine with certain limits. Boatbuilding also introduced another medium – epoxy resin, which I use extensively as both a decorative and a structural element.

In the past decade, my work has evolved through several stages, from platters to sculptural forms to vessel forms, and now wall pieces - all using, to some degree, my technique of cutting and reassembly. Inspiration comes from a combination of the materials I am playing with and my responses to the world around me.
